Kenneth Whitfield

Mr. Whitfield is available as a sober companion, sober coach, and legal advocate. He can be reached directly at (424) 202-7426.

I began using drugs and alcohol at the age of 13. I am from a broken home and grew up in the gang infested neighborhoods of Inglewood and Venice,  California. I drank and used and progressively got worse during my time in the military.  I entered a treatment facility at age 20. It wasn’t until after my mother’s death from the disease of alcoholism in 1992 that I honestly desired to get clean and sober. Today, due to my first-hand experience with how easily a person can relapse, I am able to assist those in recovery who need a helping hand. It is this incite that makes me a valuable asset as a sober companion. In addition, I have honed my sober companion and coaching skills as the manager of A Positive Change Sober Living in Mar Vista, California.  This upscale sober living facility provides a safe and structured environment for as many as ten men on average. My experience strength and hope in a variety of situations, in addition to dealing with men from all walks of life, enables me to provide the extra ‘insurance” against relapse for clients who are struggling in their sobriety. I have access to numerous resources in the field of recovery due to constant interaction with experts in the Southern California area which makes me able to handle a multitude of issues that may arise for a client new to sobriety. Kenneth Whitfield is also First Aid and CPR trained and is a Registered Recovery Worker registered with the state of California.  Please give me a call. I look forward to assisting you in your journey of recovery.

Laura Baird

Ms. Baird is available as a sober companion, sober coach, and legal advocate. She can be reached directly at (310) 621-5571.

I was born in Los Angeles and adopted at four weeks old. My parents were older, very loving and financially stable. I was born an alcoholic. I started drinking at the age of eleven and became a blackout drinker by the age of fifteen. I was put into rehab and was then introduced to sobriety. I remained sober for four years. I then relapsed and dove into the world of hard drugs. I started using heroin and cocaine on a daily basis. I lost everything due to my addiction, and almost died. I finally hit my bottom in April of 2002 and have been sober since then. I have rebuilt my life with my faith, a twelve-step program, meetings, sponsorship and the loving support of my parents. I have developed a deep compassion for anyone afflicted and suffering from addiction and alcoholism and I feel that my life experience makes me an expert in being a sober companion. Having been through a relapse and the process of recovery I can offer the necessary support and guidance to be a positive assistant in one’s recovery process. I have worked on a dual-diagnosis in-patient unit and also done extensive step work with women through sponsorship. I am currently volunteering at Friendly House, a woman’s home, doing a group once a week. Laura is also First Aid and CPR trained and is  registered with the state of California as a Registered Recovery Worker. Please don’t hesitate to call me if I can be of assistance in any way.  I look forward to hearing from you.
