Sober Companion

Sober Companion Duties Pre-Treatment

A.  Meet with you and properly assess your current mental state and health condition.

B.  Work with referring facility or we can refer you to one to make sure you are going to the appropriate treatment facility and get an intake date and time arranged for you.

C.  If needed, make sure you are medically cleared to travel so you don’t have complications due to detox or current adverse medical conditions that might effect you en route to your treatment facility.

D.  We will walk with you step by step and calm your fears by answering any questions you may have about the treatment facility you are going to.

E.  We will stay with you 24 hours a day from your door step until your intake process is completed at your treatment facility.

F.  We will also be monitoring any medication that is prescribed to you and making sure you are taking it as prescribed by your physician.

Sober Companion Duties Post-Treatment

A.  We will be meeting with your current treatment center to effectively come up with a personalized post-treatment plan for you.

B.  We will also speak with your treatment center to better assist you about current medical conditions, mental health diagnosiss, co-occurring disorders  and personal triggers to make sure we can fend off a relapse before it happens.

C.  We will also be setting up a daily personal itinerary to make sure you make it to doctors appointments, twelve step meetings , and Intensive Outpatient Program if prescribed by your referring treatment center.

D.  Don’t worry about transportation arrangements as our sober companions will be with you 24 hours a day if needed and will transport to wherever you need to be transported to.

E.  When arriving at home area your home and personal property will be cleared of all alcoholics beverages, illicit substances, as well as medication that is not prescribed to you.

F.  Our sober companions will be giving daily detailed reports to your treatment team to make sure your progress is tracked.

G.  Our sober companions will be with you 24 hours a day to assist you with any concern or issue that may arise.  We can also accompany to work if needed, business trips, touring, and entertainment sets.

Sober Coach

When it comes to protecting the time and money spent on drug and alcohol treatment a sober coach can be a valuable asset and resource against relapse.  A questions may be asked why not just use my twelve step sponsor?  Well sponsors have their own lives and there is no real legal guarantees when it comes to your confidentiality.  This is where a sober coach comes into play.  Our sober coaches work hand in hand with your current treatment to help you stay sober but also help you steer clear of negative behaviors and also issues that may arise due to co-occurring disorders (gambling, sex, eating disorders), and can also help monitor you if you are having issues due to other mental illnesses as well.

Sober Coaching Duties

1) Assessment:  You will fill out a questionnaire regarding primary addiction, co-occurring disorders, current mental diagnosis, as well as any current adverse health care conditions.

2) Planning:  Liaisons will be set up between Baird/Whitfield Sober Services and your current treatment team (I.O.P., therapist, psychologist) to assist in an effective plan of action to keep you on track in your sobriety.

3) Execution:  After a plan of action has been established with your treatment team, we will meet with you twice weekly to make sure that any problems or concerns you have about your sobriety are being addressed and also to make sure you are working towards your daily, weekly, and monthly goals in your sobriety.

Legal Advocate

We serve as a liason for you in court to help get your sentencing deferred or your sentencing ran in conjunction with your time spent with a sober companion in out patient treatment or inpatient treatment as well while working with your current legal counsel.
